Disclaimer:
Safety is always the responsibility of the horse handler. As with all equestrian sports, horses big and small are unpredictable and can be dangerous. Handlers must always use caution and keep safety in mind at all times. Handlers assume all responsibility in case of injury or even death; we will not be held liable in any way. Please check your tack often to make sure everything is fastened and secured properly. Do not use tack if something is missing, broken, or if there is any damage.

Put Safety Always First! |

Check out our Safety Gear! New!
Safety Tip: Always check your driving harness often and make sure all parts are working properly and fastened tightly to ensure you and your horses safety. Look over your cart from time to time and check to make sure all the bolts on your cart are tight. Also remember to check the lug nuts on your wheels to ensure they are secured. You can use Loctite on your lug nuts as an added precaution to securing the wheels to your cart.
Safety Tip: Never tie your horse up by it's bridle. Should your horse spook both he and your harness could suffer damage. It is best to use a driving halter which fastens over top of your bridle. It has buckles over the horses nose and poll so you can put it on and off while the horse is harnessed. You can easily remove it just prior to your drive. It is always a good idea to take your lead rope with you , as you may want to stop and smell the roses or have a picnic lunch during your drive, and it will be very useful!
Safety Tip: Always wear a helmet! Many serious injuries are prevented by the proper usage of a helmet. This applies to horse sports as well as non-horse sports. I realize that in some places it is more appropriate not to ware a helmet as you may want to wear a driving hat. Just don't avoid wearing it because its hot, you have a very seasoned driving horse, or it takes a few seconds to find and put on. A few seconds may save your life and that will be well worth it all! Driving is fun, and it's more fun when you can do it, so put safety always 1st!
Safety Tip: Always carry a driving whip! Would you ride a horse without your legs? Not a good idea if you can help it. When you are ground training or driving your mini, it is important to carry your whip... its like using your legs for aids! Use it to ward off barking dogs too!
Safety Tip: Never allow objects (other than your driving whip) outside of the cart while it is in motion. Horses can be spooked and run away causing severe damage and possibly even death. When taking a passenger with you, instruct them on cart driving safety. Remember safety should always come first! Have fun & Drive Safe!
Safety Tip: We always recommend using harness pads with all harnesses during daily training and pleasure drives. Harness pads give your horse the added protection from harness pressure and avoid rubbing sores. Be kind and keep your horses happy while using harness pads. Your mini will thank you by working harder and enjoying it.
